Canadian Tire Jumpstart
A Long-Term Grant Partner
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities has supported KTRA through multiple grants over several years — covering instructor wages, horse care, operating costs, and our Smile Fund for riders aging out of funding.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities has been one of KTRA’s most valued long-term partners, supporting us through multiple grants across several years.
We were first selected to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund, which helped us cover staff wages, property lease payments, utility payments, and care for our horses including grain, hay, vet, and farrier costs. We were later selected a second time for the Sport Relief Fund — this grant helped us purchase PPE equipment for our 2021 Spring Session, send one of our instructors to complete her PATH Intl. certification, and hire back our seasonal instructors for the Spring Session.
We are also very grateful to have received a Community Development Grant of $9,799 to help cover instructor wages, operating expenses, and our Smile Fund. The Smile Fund was adopted in the name of a good friend and exists to help riders who have aged out of funding continue their therapeutic riding lessons, and to educate them on new funding opportunities as adults.
We were then excited to be selected to receive two Community Development Grants alongside Sport Canada. The Community Development Grant — Operational for $11,200 went towards wages for our certified instructors and towards hiring and certifying a new instructor for our 2023–24 fiscal year. The Community Development Grant — Programming for $6,700 supported our 2023 Winter Session, covering wages, facility costs, and insurance.
Most recently, we received a Community Development Grant of $12,000 to help cover staff wages and horse care, as well as support to cover our increased lease fees and updated instructor hours.
We are incredibly grateful for Jumpstart’s continued belief in our program and our riders. It means so much to help us continue providing access to sport and play for our community.
Sport Canada
We are excited to share that Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association has been selected to receive two Community Development Grants from Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Sport Canada. Along with Jumpstart, we understand the importance of sport for the health and well-being of kids and their families and are proud of the work we do to provide community sport and play.
